The Magna Carta had a great influence on the economy. The charter had a great affect on taxesas well. It states that: no taxes are to be raised without permission of the nobles(Cavendish, pg 47). So this means that the king can't raise/ lower taxes just because he wants to. part of the reason John was forced to sign the charter was because he was angering the nobles with oppresive taxes and abusing his power. Lastly the document says that any tax without representaion was unjust.
