Political Influence

The Magna Carta recognized a list of fuedal rights. It stated that every freeman is protected from arbitrary arrest, imprisonment, and legal actions. The document also says that no taxes are to be raised without the permission of the nobles, and "due process of law" which means you are innocent until proven guilty. The charter also gave two very important ideas, one being  that everyone has equal rights and that the king must obey the law, meaning he is not above the law.(Prentice Hall, pg 208-209)
